Joel’s First Lesson

November 11, 2020 — As you may know, my “day” job has me working as a software engineering manager at a local Seattle-area tech startup. Aviation is my passion though, and I’ve garnered a decent following at the office as I’ve made my way through the training process. Now that I’ve become a certified flight instructor, a few folks from work have expressed interest in working toward their own ratings with me.

Joel’s been interested in aviation for a long time, and now that he knows someone on the inside (hah) he’s decided it’s time to make things happen. This is a short clip from his very first flight, where we go over some of the most fundamental aspects of flying a helicopter: straight-and-level, turns, and cyclic and collective inputs.

Check out the video, and always feel free to contact me if you’re interested in taking lessons or just want a demo flight.
