Low-Level on the White River

August 8, 2020 — On my very first helicopter “discovery” flight, Matt H from Atomic Helicopters took me for some low-level flying along the White River. He clearly knew what he was doing, because there’s no way I’d have been able pass up the chance to do something like that on a regular basis.

Fast forward few years. I got my helicopter private pilot add-on, worked through the commercial rating, and am on my way to becoming an instructor. I’m back in N974CW, the same Schweizer 300C from both that original discovery flight and my first helicopter solo. She was actually down for a really long time, so I’m happy to have her back.

Anyway, the plan for today was to head out to Ranger Creek with Derek. It just so happens that our flight path took us over the same stretch of river that started it all for me, and I didn’t really need much more of an excuse to share some of that experience with him.

This video is two and a half minutes of pure helicopter awesomeness. We hope you enjoy!
