The Quest for Pie: Part II

September 1, 2019 — This is the return leg of our trip out to Jefferson Country Airport (0S9) for lunch and pies at Spruce Goose Cafe. With an extra slice in hand for the receptionist back at Atomic Helicopters, we set off on the scenic route back into Seattle. We had some fun flying low over the shoreline, but eventually the heat got to Derek and he was asleep by the time we we’d crossed the water north of downtown.

My favorite way to get back into Boeing Field is via the Seattle waterfront, and that’s exactly what we did today. Time and conditions permitting, I’ll always take the opportunity to make an orbit of the Space Needle while I’m at it. I highly recommend it, but you’ll want be sure to monitor the multicom frequency 122.9. It’s a busy corridor, so awareness of other aircraft in the vicinity is crucial. The Kenmore seaplane base on the south side of Lake Union also uses that frequency, and many aircraft approaching Boeing Field will be listening in and reporting on frequency before switching over to tower.
